Immunizations

Getting children vaccinated helps protect them from current and future potentially life-threatening diseases. Vaccines are tested to ensure that they are safe and effective to receive at the recommended ages.

Our BEDHD Immunization Clinic offers vaccines for children based upon recommendations of the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP). For children, all vaccines that are recommended from birth through 18 years of age are available.

Ways To Pay

The Vaccines for Children (VFC) program provides vaccines to children ages 0–18 years who do not have health insurance, are currently on Medicaid, are American Indian or Alaska Native, or who are under-insured. A small administration fee may be charged for each VFC vaccination received.

Do You Have Commercial Insurance?

If you have commercial insurance, you will be expected to know the following: Are immunizations covered under your plan? Is BEDHD in your network? Do you have a deductible?

BEDHD will be happy to bill all accepted insurance plans, but any remaining balance that your insurance company does not cover, including unmet deductibles, will be your responsibility. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

School, Preschool & Childcare Immunizations

Vaccination requirements for school/preschool/childcare entry are implemented to maintain high vaccination coverage and protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases. Before a child can attend childcare, preschool, kindergarten, seventh grade, or enroll in a new school district in Michigan; parents or guardians are required to produce documentation that confirms their child has either received the required immunizations or have a valid immunization waiver.

Find State Summary Reports by school buildings or preschool/childcare sites that measure compliance with immunization requirements among children enrolled in seventh grade, kindergarten, preschool, childcare and new entrants to the school district here.

To obtain a medical waiver, please make an appointment with your health care provider and have them download and complete the Medical Contradiction Form.

To obtain a non-medical waiver, you will need to make an in-person appointment with Barry-Eaton District Health Department staff. Waivers cannot be mailed or completed over the phone. The non-medical waiver process includes a brief educational session, and the waiver will be completed in MCIR. Appointments take approximately 20 minutes.
