Barry County holds two Household Hazardous Waste, Tire, and Medicine Collections each year.  These collections take place in the spring and fall at the Barry County Fairgrounds, 1350 N. M-37.  The collections are sponsored by the Barry County Solid Waste Oversight Committee with support from the Barry County Fair Board, Waste Management, Barry-Eaton District Health Department, Barry County Substance Abuse Task Force, Sheriff’s Department, and Local Pharmacies.
 

Last year (2010) these collections brought in over 32, 000 pounds of household Hazardous waste material, 2,418 tires, and 11,231 expired/prescription medicine pills.
 

The dates scheduled for 2011 collections are Saturday, May 14th, and Saturday September 24th.  They run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
