Barry-Eaton District Health Department seeks Health Analyst to design, promote, implement, and evaluate health care programs and special projects. Under general supervision, the health analyst gathers and analyzes information and prepares reports relative to statistical data, managed care, health system performance and quality monitoring specific to the District. Will be responsible for analyzing community health status, identifying areas of unmet health needs and implementing community health improvement strategies.  Responsible for promotion and development of new programs in a community setting, as well as data collection and surveillance of performance indicators. Responsible for developing and maintaining frequent contact with community members, various department staff, elected officials, board members and other related personnel from many locations/agencies.  

Essential Job Functions: Will be required to perform research at the community and program level and interpret the meaning of statistical data to community members and other Departmental staff.  Will research, develop, and promote new program/s and collaborative efforts.

Degree/Experience: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Communications, Health Management, or related area of study; Master’s degree preferred. At least three years related work experience required.  Geographical Information Systems software experience desired.  Substantial microcomputer skills are required, particularly in the areas of word processing, data base management, and publication design.  Must have excellent public relations, marketing, communications skills, project planning skills, and the ability to work independently with little direction.  Prior experience relating to health care service delivery highly preferred.
